Don't Get around much anymore......

Well, actually I'm just back from a trip to London and Paris, but I haven't visited this blog for almost a year.  While it's named Daily Diva I just don't have it in me to do daily posts. I have so much I'd love to share about my trip and the sights and sounds from it, but I'll have to see what flows out of me. Right now I thought I'd try and do a bit of bullet writing updates...seems to work best for me, so here goes:
  • OK, even though I haven't watched hockey faithfully in forever, I'm all over the playoffs and now have Tums by my side for the Stanley Cup finals. I love Patrice Bergeron (since he came over-eww that reeks of Cougar-sorry Patrice, I'll make you Chocolate Chip cookies.) I also love Tuukka Rask, I've never seen a goalie seem so nonchalant in his net, seriously.....
  • I saw Muse in April and realized that for someone who doesn't break the law I would break any and all laws (even the 2nd (Muse joke-haha)) to have Matt Bellamy-can't help it, love the wee one.
  • Going to see Bruno Mars. Like his voice, don't have to see him live, by best friend since 7th grade really is excited so I'm going with her, hope I don' t lay out any 15 year olds rushing the stage since I'm sitting on the floor (god, where are my Lodge seats when I need them)
  • Go see Star Trek: Into Darkness. I'm not a bona fide Trekkie, but I thought this was one humdinger of a summer movie. And Benedict Cumberbatch is magnificent as the villain. Good lord, that voice, makes me melt every time. If they could bottle that voice, well let me tell you...wowza!
  • Red Sox this year....zzzzz.......what?....where? who?  When's pre season start for the Patriots....speaking of The New England Patriots....
  • Oops, I'm boycotting Pats games due to treatment of Wee Wes Welker...I'm bitter....
  • Big Ben is really Big. My first reaction on seeing along with the Houses of Parliament, nope they're fake, it's a movie set, really....
  • I guarantee I may be only a handful of people who literally squealed with delight when gazing upon Traitor's Gate at the Tower of London. Yes, I actually squealed as I clapped my hands together like a 5 year old seeing her Dora the Explorer Birthday cake for the first time.
  • Joss Whedon had indicated that Tom Hiddleston will not be back as Loki in The Avengers 2. A pox on you Joss Whedon, I don't care if it's not realistic to have Loki as the villain every time. You make it work-seriously. Oh and last few years of Buffy, BORING....so there...oh and Firefly, didn't get, see Farscape, much better....sorry......

Manic Monday

Listen well to the observations of the Daily Diva you puny mortals.......
Quick observations from the Daily Diva who has no mind to move past anything but quick observations

1) Movie news:
  • Well "Battleship" looks like you got sunk before you even left port. Yikes, guess international grosses will make up for lackluster US reception. Hulk Smash!
  • Looking forward to "Thor in the Woods" otherwise known as "Snow White and the Huntsman" really, I mean Chris Hemsworth, kicking butt not with Hammer but with hatchet. Who could ask for anything more?
  • I love Tom Hiddleston: Yes, I love Tom "Loki of Asgard" Hiddleston. He's just so smooth in "Thor" and "The Avengers". So good at playing evil. My new favorite Brit....hope he's cast in a crap load of movies before the next "new brit" flavor of the month in Hollywood comes round....
  • James Bond trailer is EXCELLENT. Two words, Ralph Fiennes..Yup Ralph Fiennes...that's it. Sold. Didn't even have huge spot in trailer, don't care- I'm there.
  • How many times can one watch "Thor" before one can be diagnosed as "Asgardian Mad" I think I may be past that limit..."you are an old man and a fool"......
  • "Prometheus trailer":  Blah blah 3 minutes of someone other than  Sigorney Weaver running around in underwear, blah blah um Alien....

2) Television News:
  • Oh joy!  Third season of Sherlock confirmed. Of course it was.  Andrew Scott absolutely brilliant as Moriarty. Martin Freeman's scene at Sherlock's "grave" devastating.

3) Other News:
  • Complaint for the day, week, month, year, century: After going to gym for what 3 years so hoped to see some progress in positive direction. But so not the case. I vow not to give up, but it does get hard to stay positive, promise this blog will not turn into a complaint series, and I have very limited ability to be self reflective, but jesus H. C. I'm down on the floor doing "touchdowns", burpees and F'ing planks while moving 20 lb weight. Could you give me some f'ing arm definition, weight loss, look less like the whale from "Pinnochio" seriously.....urg. ug....blah bleckity bleck blow......

Give it that old College try......

This weekend I had a wonderful time visiting with friends at my College reunion. 25th reunion, yikes. It was so lovely to have a chance to spend time with friends that I don't always get a chance to see often anymore. It makes you think how many people travel through your life, that at moments are so close and then go on, live their lives, and maybe never have a chance to see again, or be as close to as you were. But you know what that's ok. What I took back with me this weekend was that for all of the time, and distance that can come between someone and friends, that once they truly are a friend , you'll always be comfortable with them. Maybe their paths have ended up being much different from yours and shared experiences no longer exist, but for the time they were in your life they were special, or significant in some way, and that means whenever you have a chance to reconnect with them, that, in and of itself is special. It's a time to look back and enjoy times past, but also a chance for you to be reflective about where you were and where you are. So thank you to Lisa and Laura, and Beth, and Carrie and Amy and Liz.  And to the others I said hello to and chatted with. A fine time had by all.......

May We Talk About Your Dark Side?

I have not blogged in ages, and more to do with time, and honestly inspiration.  I still have time issues, so without further ado I send you a link to another blog (thank you "Victorian Swag") for saying exactly what I thought after seeing "The Avengers".  Mr. Tom Hiddleston you were wonderful in "Thor" bringing life to what really could have been a flat character, you were heartbreaking as Freddie (and quite the cad) in "The Deep Blue Sea", and in "The Avengers" well you were simply a most excellent villain.  I enjoyed you in "Midnight in Paris" too, but really a small role, not ample enough screen time for your charm. So cheers to my new favorite Brit...can't wait to see him tackle Henry V on the BBC....

Victorian Swag: May We Talk About Your Dark Side?: ( Villainous Monologue!) "I am Loki of Asgard and I am burdened with glorious purpose."   So you are Mr. Hiddleston.  Glorious purpo...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...................

All right there are times when the mind knows it should act rational but it can't. This is one of them. The Patriots lost the Super Bowl. And while I'm frustrated and ready to shake my hand at the fickle gods looking down I know I should realize that in the big picture, it doesn't amount to a hill of beans that the lost. Why? Cause it's more important to realize you should be thankful that a friend's child has the chance to live healthy with a new heart; and that your brother is still here to watch the game with you after 2 plus years of fighting cancer and more; and that even though she drives you crazy you still have a parent kicking around at 86, and that you're around to help a niece get through a crappy day; and that even though you hit a plateau you should be thankful that you lost enough weight that you're not walking around without breathing heavy, and that everything else I should have thought to mention but didn't that you should be grateful for. But you know what. Screw it, for today, and for the foreseeable future screw you. I'm disappointed, cause for a moment I thought you were going to make a good day for everyone around here that's gone through crap. But you didn't. So pick up the pieces and move on. And that's what we'll all do. But in the meantime, "F" it, "GD" it, this sucks !!!

Paranoia can Destroy ya.....

This is my first blog for 2012, and I admit it's been hard to get back to the point of blogging. I decided at best, I can blog every now and then maybe twitter like length entries. The entire full length (whatever that means" blog is just not for me (well at least right now). So what will I write about? Something profound? Nope, just Football. Yes, here it is again, I find myself freaking out because the Patriots are in the playoffs. If they weren't in the playoffs I'd be sad, angry, frustrated. Now that they're in the playoffs I'm sad (oh my god what if they lose), frustrated (oh my god what if they lose to Baltimore.Ray Lewis the murderer can't get back to the Super Bowl), and angry (GDit, everyone is picking Baltimore to win!). I can't get happy and just enjoy the ride because I care too much. Why do I care? I don't know these guys personally, I've never even been to a live football game (though I have toured Gillette a number of times taking Football 101 for three years in a row). Well I guess I just have to say it's a feeling that these are my boys. I know I share them with all of New England and other fans throughout the country and abroad, but for whatever reason, this particular team, just like the Sox of '03 (I know they lost AHHHHHH) feel like mine. From "turf toe Law firm" Benjarvis Green Ellis to Rob "why the hell is he wearing Vrabel's #, and what the hell does he look like?" Ninkovich these players mean something to me. Mickey Mouse hands Gronk "GRONK LIKE Football", Chad "I've only five catches for the entire season" Ochocinco, Wes "crazy eyed" Welker and of course Tom "They will miss me when I'm gone cause I'm so awesome" Brady, they're my boys. I want to make chocolate chip cookies for all of them. I hope they do well, and if they don't I am going to be bitter and sad, and maybe even cry. I admit tears were shed in the '07 team lost in the Super Bowl (I still cannot watch any clip or view any photo of that damn helmet catch). Ahh... So while normal people go about their business this weekend, on Sunday, if you're not doing anything say a wee prayer for the Pats and for me to make it through the game in good spirits and on the winning side!!!

That Fighting Spirit

I have to admit, when you're this ticked off about a play and you're making a billion dollars and married to the richest model on earth, I'm going to love you. Now some will say Brady was a brat for yelling at his young receiver for allowing a Redskins defensive player for undercutting him on the route, but you know what? I am soooooo happy to have and see someone who gives a flying fig about the outcome of a game. Sometimes we all take things for granted. And I know maybe if I had three super bowl rings and it was a forgone conclusion that I would be elected first try into the NFL Hall of Fame, I may have said, "Screw it....our defense blows, I'm taking it easy for the rest of the season". Not Tom Brady. And do I agree with him blaming Underwood for not catching the ball- no I don't. Plain and simple it was a crappy decision to throw the ball, and an even worse pass. But keep that intensity Tommy, the team needs to see you care and that you haven't checked out. And kuddos for Bill O'Brien for yelling back at Brady-he's a player and needs to be coached no matter how many wins he has. I kinda wish I was this intense about anything in my life right now. Well I kinda am, watching football. Here's to the upcoming Post season. I don't think my poor Pats have a chance in hell of making it beyond their bye week, but you know what, Play the hell out of the rest of your schedule and I'll love you even more.
